Big & Little Coloring Devotional – Review

Color Devo

This fun coloring devotional arrived in my mail slot last week. I think two of my girls were more excited to break it open and get started. Each set of pages are set up so both adult and child can color at the same time. The “little” page has a Bible verse while the “big” page has a short devotional.

The illustrations are beautiful and fun to color. The illistrations are good for all ages, so even older children will enjoy coloring. The pages are thick so you can use crayons, color pencils or markers and it does not show on the other side.

My girls are picking out thier favorite pictures so we can keep coloring together. That’s probably the best selling feature!

She Reads Truth Bible – Review

It seems somewhat strange to me to be given a Bible to review. I have never thought Bibles needed reviewing. However, there are thousands of different Bibles on bookshelves. Go to your local bookstore or take a look on amazon. There is a Bible for every kind of person, in many different translations, in a rainbow of colors. I received the gray linen hardback version of the She Reads Truth Bible.

The She Reads Truth Bible is a beautiful and well put together study Bible. It is heavy, but opens flat, which I appreciate. I really like all of the extras that are included: devotionals, beautiful key verses, color timelines, color maps and charts, reading plans and more.

I really like the wide margins which are perfect for note taking or for Bible journaling. I did find the pages a bit thin. This is only a problem for writing or highlighting on the pages. I would suggest using the pens and highlighters made especially for Bibles. The font color is more of a dark gray than black, so it could be harder to read. The pages are laid out in one columns instead of the traditional two. This may help people read the Bible more as a book.

The overall look is beautiful and every “extra” was put in with a purpose leading the reader to see the Gospel throughout the whole Bible. If you are looking for a new Bible, I encourage you to try the She Reads Truth Bible.

*I received a copy of this Bible from the publisher, but this review is fully mine.

“She is Yours” Book Review

She is Yours

I prayed for this child, and the LORD answered by prayer.

He gave me this child. And now I give this child to the LORD.

I Samuel 1:27 EVR

I have three dauthers (and two sons) of my own, and am always looking for enouragement to raise them to follow God. There are many self-help parenting books on the market that give you a list of dos and don’ts. In “She is Yours” Jonahtan and Wynter Pitts turn thier focus to where we should all be focused. Prayer. Broken into three parts, the Pitts give practicle ways to pray for your dauther in different areas of thier life. Their reminder to parents is that our dauthers are a gift from God, and they are God’s daughters. They include prayers at the end of each chapter.

“She is Yours” reminds parents that thier own walk with God (actions, prayer life, decisions) will impact our daughters far more than any list of rules. Our daughters are always watching us. Society says otherwise, but we are thier biggest influence and should be their biggest cheerleader. This book leads parents to pray through thier daughters infancy all the way past praying for their husband when they are grown.

“She is Yours” is thoughtful, God- focused, encouraging and grounded in the truth of our Lord.
